- Right. I have a little problem with my current Amiga and PC setup.
- I have an A3000 with an A2065 ethernet card, and a PC with an
- Ne2000 compatiable card. I have set it up with a T-Connector, in
- each card, a terminator in one end and the co-axial joining the
- two together.
-
- On the A3000, I originally bought it with the networking software on
- board - could be commodore's own? I'm not sure. When I found it,
- it was installed and setup in a directory called inet: Sound familiar
- to anyone? I also have AmiTcp 4 Demo.
-
- On the PC I have set things I have set things up under Windows
- for Workgroups, using the supplied Ne2000 driver using the IPX/SPX
- compatiable transport (dunno if this is right?) and have also
- installed the cz2000 and winpkt drivers so that I can use Trumpet
- Winsock.
-
- The reason behind the whole shin-dig is so that I can transfer files
- at high speed (with out using a slow serial link, and perhaps to
- eventually run mail, news clients from the Amiga.
-
- The Problem: Basically it doesn't work. I have the inetd running on
- the amiga, listening for ftp on port 21. I run an ftp client on the PC
- and nothing happens - it can't connect.
-
- Suspect: Because the ehternet card on the PC is jumperless, setting
- the IP address involves use a utility which came with it (called
- lanset.exe) However, it isn't a dotted quad, but a dotted hex - it
- has six lots of numbers and only the last three are adjustable????
- In the following format - 00.00.01.xx.xx.xx. the first two must be
- zero, the next one a 01, and the last three are adjustable? Are these
- "backwards" ie - most significant values on the right hand side?
-
- Am I doing anything wrong? Do you need more info? Please, anyone help
- cos I'm getting a little frustrated here....
